Dwarf Mongoose. The common dwarf mongoose (Helogale parvula) is a mongoose species native to Angola, northern Namibia, KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, Zambia and East Africa. They are the smallest carnivores in Africa and are primarily insectivorous (insect-eaters).

Dwarf mongooses (Helogale parvula) live throughout much of sub-Saharan Africa in a wide variety of woodlands, thickets and savanna habitats. Mongoose (plural mongooses) is the common name for any member of the small "cat-like" carnivorous mammals comprising the Old World family Herpestidae, characterized by a long, slender body, short legs, long tail. Hornbills catch insects, rodents and other prey flushed by the pack and in return serve as lookouts, sounding alarm calls when avian predators are sighted.
